There is nothing quite like sinking your teeth into a juicy burger. The soft bun, the layers of toppings, the hot meat; seriously, nothing beats a good burger. When I saw a deal for Burger Joint, I thought I would check it out to see how it would fare in the world of amazing burgers we live in today.
The restaurant is attached to a food court in the Ogilvie Transportation Center on Madison St. in downtown Chicago. I ventured there one Saturday, craving a burger and fries. The menu consists of half-pound, hand-crafted burgers and specialty fries. The burgers all have playful names like “The Hangover,” “Hot Mess,” and “Wild Cowboy.”
The Food
I decided to go with ‘The Hangover:' a patty topped with bacon, tomato, a fried egg, and American cheese. Yum. I also got one order of their hand-cut specialty fries. My boyfriend went with the ‘Crazy Greek:' a cheeseburger topped with gyro and feta cheese. Double yum. We did not have to wait long for the food and then had the option of eating in the restaurant or taking it into the food court. We opted to eat in the restaurant itself, atop tall stools at a table with a window facing Canal St.
My burger definitely hit the spot and satisfied the burger craving I walked into the joint with. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger as well, and the one bite I had of it was a delicious blend of Greek and American food. The fries were fresh and warm, with just a little salt. Washing it down with a fountain drink was the cap to a great little meal in what is definitely more than just a food court restaurant.
