Located at one end of the main street of bars and restaurants in Vang Vieng, the Vang Vieng Boutique Hotel turned out to be a good choice for a three night stay in this fun riverside town.
The Room, Amenities, and Services
I booked a Deluxe Double Room through HostelWorld for my stay in Vang Vieng and was not disappointed. The room came with a King Size bed, fridge, air conditioning unit, and a private bathroom with a hot shower. You may be thinking, well of course it had private shower. However, when traveling and staying in hostels, a private bathroom becomes a welcome luxury. I was always glad to come back at the end of the day and wash everything away with hot water.
The furnishings were simple, but the room itself was comfortable. Vang Vieng has so much to do that I didn't spend a lot of time in my room besides sleeping. For just this, the hotel was perfect. The Vang Vieng Boutique Hotel offers the following amenities and services:
- Daily buffet breakfast, included in the price
- Guests can order a pancake, omelette, scrambled eggs or fried eggs as well as help themselves to the buffet of fresh fruit, bread, jams, juices and coffee. Everything was delicious, especially the scrambled eggs which I ordered everyday!
- Coffee and Tea making facilities in each room
- 2 bottles of mineral water (replenished daily)
- Refrigerator
- Air conditioning unit
- Television with cable (only local channels)
- Private bathroom with hot shower
- Daily housekeeping, included in the price
- Private balcony (street facing rooms); there is also a communal balcony space on each floor that I utilized frequently
- 24/7 Staffed Front Desk
- Free Wifi
The hotel can book any bus tickets you may need to your next destination for good prices. They also can organize tours for visitors and provide a large book at the front desk that guests can read through with different options.
The Staff
One of the best parts of this hotel is the staff! They really go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is going well and you have all the information you need to have a great visit. The day manager's name is Chai and she spoke excellent English. Having lived and traveled through parts of South East Asia, I have grown accustomed to speaking a version of English that many back home would shudder to hear. It was so nice to show up and have her help us out with what to do during our stay and provide great recommendations for food. She also greeted us with a fruity welcome drink upon our arrival that was refreshing and delicious!
Final Verdict
The Vang Vieng Boutique Hotel had an excellent location: just at the end of the main street so as to have an easier time sleeping away from the parties, but just a few minutes walk to all the action and sights. The prices for a room were affordable, and the hotel offers discounts for longer stays. I would definitely stay here again as it was comfortable, clean, and inviting. During my stay, they seemed to be dong renovation on the entrance, which left something to be desired. I hope they can fix it up and maybe add a bar or lounge area for guests in the front that would improve the hotel even more!
